Started in 1932 by Ray Whimmer as The Overhead Door Company of Toledo™, we are the oldest operating garage door company in Toledo, Ohio.

Over the years of operation, our company has evolved and expanded to further serve its customers. 

In 1982, the owner at the time, Lee Huss, founded the fireplace division of the company originally designed to serve the builder community. Today, Fireside Hearth and Home of Toledo proudly sells industry leading products supported by our own factory trained and certified installers and service technicians.  

In 1986, in partnership with Kevin Krabach, the window and entry door division was established and continues to operate under Kevin’s management. Today, Architect’s Choice is your choice for windows and entry doors.  

In 1996, our first showroom was opened to more appropriately display and serve both the builder and retail market. At that time, it was decided to add BBQ grills and patio furniture to the showroom as a counter-seasonal offering to balance out the fireplace division.  

In 1999 Lee’s son Mark Huss opened business for commercial roofing and sheet metal installations and service. Overhead Roofing and Sheet Metal is your reliable source for repairs and service on your commercial roof and proud to be a Master Installer of Duro-Last roofing.  

In 2007, an opportunity to expand operations into the Sandusky market presented itself and today Sandusky Door and Hearth proudly serves the surrounding area’s garage door and fireplaces needs. 

In 2012, ownership of the company transitioned to Lee’s other son, Michael Huss, who continues to serve as the president of the company and represents the 4th generation of family ownership.
